Fergana and Nonsan will expand cooperation in agricultural technologies

The Fergana region and the South Korean city of Nonsan intend to expand practical cooperation in agriculture, agrotechnology, product processing, and innovation. This was reported by the Fergana Region Khokimiyat.

Khokim of the Fergana region Khayrullo Bozorov held a meeting with the Mayor of Nonsan, Chhongchon-Namdo Province, Baek Son-hyun.

The parties discussed strengthening economic ties, exchanging experience, and implementing joint projects.

Particular attention is paid to the experience of Nonsan, where agriculture and industry are developing using modern technologies. The city is known in South Korea for its production of strawberries and uses a comprehensive approach that includes growing products, implementing agricultural technologies, processing, creating added value, and promoting finished goods.

In 2027, Nonsan will host the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo. The meeting participants noted that the city's experience is of significant interest to the Fergana region.

The parties considered the possibility of combining the agricultural potential of the Fergana region with Nonsan technologies, developing deep processing of fruit and vegetable products, as well as introducing modern greenhouse and intensive cultivation methods.

One of the proposals was to establish a modern center for growing seedlings and developing intensive farming in the Fergana region based on Nonsan's experience in strawberry production.

Specialist training was discussed separately. In particular, it was proposed to send young specialists from Fergana to Nonsan for short-term internships and to invite Korean experts to the region.

The parties also considered the launch of joint programs between universities and research centers.

Nonsan's experience is not limited to agriculture. The city is implementing an approach that combines the economy, the agricultural sector, and tourism. Within the framework of the new economic strategy, the defense industry, artificial intelligence, and research and development (R&D) are also being developed.

Khayrullo Bozorov spoke about the conditions created in the Fergana region for investors, the projects being implemented in industry and agriculture, and the measures being taken to attract modern technologies.

Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the need to expand direct contacts between entrepreneurs and relevant organizations of the two regions, organize mutual visits, and move from promising initiatives to specific projects.

The parties agreed to develop a "roadmap" and consistently develop practical cooperation.
